I’ve spent 27 years in technology. The first business was Emagin8. Infinite Edge came next, founded in 2010. The work started as break-fix IT, matured into managed services, then cybersecurity became a dedicated practice in 2018. When ChatGPT changed the conversation in late 2022, we moved hard into AI implementation.
Both service lines are still live. Foundation IT - managed IT, cybersecurity, strategic technology - is the work that keeps Australian businesses running. AI Edge is what we layer on top once the foundation is solid. The positioning has evolved. The standard of work hasn’t.
WHY I CARE ABOUT THIS
Three Years Ago Infinite Edge Had Seven People. Today We Have Four.
We have more clients now than we did then. Higher revenue. Better margins. The team works fewer hours and spends them on better problems.
The thing that changed is that we rebuilt our own business the way we now rebuild our clients’. We found the work that didn’t need a human and automated it. We retrained the people we kept on the work AI couldn’t do. We tore out tools we were paying for and replaced them with fewer, better ones.
I don’t tell you this to brag. I tell you because everything I’ll suggest your business does, we already did to ourselves. We’re not consultants who don’t eat their own cooking.
We didn’t shrink the team because AI replaced people. We grew the work each person could do, and the right size for the work turned out to be smaller.
