GRANT FUNDING
Up to 50% of Your AI Project Could Be Grant-Funded.
Most Australian small businesses don’t realise they qualify. The R&D Tax Incentive, state SME vouchers, and federal innovation programs can cover a meaningful chunk of your AI work. We do the documentation, you get the funding.
Three Funding Sources Worth Knowing About.
These are the programs that consistently fund AI work for Australian small businesses. The Matcher below tells you which ones apply to your situation.
R&D Tax Incentive
Eligibility. Businesses with eligible R&D activity. Most AI implementation work qualifies.
18.5pp offset on eligible expenditure for businesses under $20M turnover
What it means. If you spend $50,000 on eligible AI work, the R&DTI returns approximately $9,250 against your tax bill.
The catch. Documentation matters. Claims need defensible evidence of experimental activity. We do the documentation as we go - not at end-of-year scramble.
State SME Vouchers
Eligibility. Varies by state. Programs in VIC, NSW, QLD, WA actively fund SME tech adoption.
$10,000 - $30,000 typical voucher size
What it means. For eligible businesses, a voucher in this range can substantially fund AI implementation work. We help shape the project so it qualifies.
The catch. Programs change frequently. The Matcher checks which are currently open. We help with the application.
Federal Innovation Programs
Eligibility. Industry Growth Program, Export Market Development Grant, others depending on your sector.
Variable - usually grant-funded rather than tax-offset
What it means. These are competitive but the right project can win significant funding.
The catch. Application processes are heavier than R&DTI. We’d typically refer to a specialist grants advisor for the application itself, but help shape the underlying project so it’s fundable.
THE MATCHER
Six Questions. See What You Qualify For.
The Matcher walks through six to ten quick questions about your business and current AI activity, then surfaces which grant programs are worth pursuing. Takes about 3 minutes. No email required to see your initial result.
MATCHER STATUS
The Matcher is being connected.
The grants page is ready now. The six-question Matcher will slot into this panel once the decision logic is finalised. Until then, bring your project to a Discovery Call and we will work through the funding fit with you.
Conservative guidance only. Final eligibility is determined by program assessment. We never claim a project is eligible; we help build the case for why it might be.
What Working With Us Looks Like for Grant-Funded Work.
We’re an AI implementation business, not a grants advisor. Here’s the line we work on.
We do the implementation
- AI Roadmap, Build, and Annual Partnership engagements
- TTT diagnostic and roadmap
- Done-with-you build alongside your team
- Documentation that makes claims defensible
We document the R&D activity
- Experimental hypotheses written up as we go
- Evidence captured at the right level of detail
- Time records aligned to R&DTI requirements
- Handover pack for your accountant or R&DTI advisor
We refer for the formal claim
- We work alongside your accountant or R&DTI advisor on the formal lodgement
- We don’t lodge R&DTI claims directly
- We can recommend specialist advisors if you don’t have one
Honest Lines We Won’t Cross.
We never tie our fees to grant approval.
Contingency fees on R&DTI are a regulatory grey zone. We charge for the work we do. The grant is yours, not ours.
We never claim a project is eligible.
Eligibility is determined by program assessment. We say “may be eligible, subject to assessment”. Anyone telling you different is over-claiming.
We don’t lodge R&DTI claims.
That’s your accountant or R&DTI advisor’s job. We do the implementation and the documentation. We hand over a defensible package - they file it.
